Luxury Rioja Case

A selection of outstanding wines from Spain's most famous wine-making region, this case consists of 4 red wines, 1 sparkling and 1 white. All are sensational!

Vinedos de Aldeanueva Fincas de Azabache Tempranillo Blanco Brut - Limited edition sparkling white Rioja.  Traditional method, 4 months on the lees to add some texture.  Fruity aromas of green apple, citrus and lovely floral blossom.  Well balanced with vibrant acidity and fruity finish.

Roda Rioja Reserva - From vines over 30 years old, yields are kept to a very low 1.5kg per vine that results in a concentration of intense aromas of crushed red cherries and savoury herbs and ripe, spicy, structured fruit on the palate with soft tannins and a long finish. Deep cherry colour. The nose is deep, fruity and delicately spiced whilst the palate provides flavours of cherries and silky, fine grained tannins. An overall feeling of freshness, this wine oozes delicate elegance.

Vina Arana Gran Reserva Rioja 2015 La Rioja Alta -  As always, Viña Arana delivers. Sitting alongside 890 & 904, this wine offers earlier drinking than its bigger siblings. Grippy tannins with a brilliant array of ripe red fruits and black cherry, there’s a sweet coconutty vanilla nose, with cinnamon and toasted coffee-bean notes.

Monopole Clasico Blanco 2019 -  From the start of last century until the 1970s, Monopole was a reference point in homes and hostelries throughout Spain, and one of CVNE's foremost wines. Sadly, existing trends changed, sales slipped and in the 80s production stopped.  In 2014, celebrating the brand's centenary year, the Monopole was reborn, now under the name of Monopole Clásico: a seductive and striking wine thanks to a small amount of Manzanilla, a commemorative wine which draws deeply on tradition to welcome in the present.

Hacienda Grimon, Rioja Reserva - Hacienda Grimón is run by brothers Paco and Eliseo. From their 25 hectare base in a secluded corner of the Rioja Alta, they produce organic wines that accurately reflect the subtleties of their family estate. The majority of their wines experience extended ageing, therefore great care is taken to ensure that all grapes are as healthy as possible. As a result, no herbicides or pesticides are used at any stage and hand harvesting is employed for all their vineyards. The Reserva offers a great deal more structure on the palate than the Crianza, while also displaying far more prominent oak flavours. A combination of dense, plummy fruit and a good tannic structure ensure that this is a Reserva that offers incredible value for money.

Bodegas Benito Urbina, Urbina Rioja Gran Reserva Especial 2004 - This wine comes from the best grapes grown on the Estate and it is made using grapes from vines that are all more than 20 years old. It is fermented at a controlled temperature of 28°C and is macerated for the final 28 days, followed by at least 36 months in oak and a further 48 months ageing in bottle. This wine was made using 90% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano, 5% Mazuelo.  Aged 24 months in American oak casks and 36 months in bottle. Reddish-garnet, splendid ripe, complex nose, harmonious, well-balanced oak and fruit tannins, intense rich fruit, great finesse, velvet smoothness and wondrous length.
