Take a trip to the well-known Rioja region of Spain with this fantastic selection of 3 reds, 2 whites and 1 rose Rioja.... 

Don Placero Rioja Crianza - Made by the family owned Bodegas Navajas in the Rioja Alta. Don Placero Rioja Crianza is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha aged in American oak for 15 months. An enticing nose of fruit, oak and subtle spice. Smooth with strong fruits of the forest flavours and rich vanilla on the long, lingering finish. 

Azabache Rioja Rose - Made in the traditional 'clarete' style of blending together Garnacha along with a touch of Viura. The result is a pale rose with a lightly floral nose. The palate is fresh with notes of strawberries, crabapple and touch of tropical fruit produced during fermentation. The character is perfectly balanced by a pink grapefruit acidity and elegant finish.

Bodega Classica, Pharos Rioja Blanco - Selected from old vines Viura vineyards located in the Sonsierra area of Rioja. This wine is a revelation! Delicious notes of ripe fruit, dates and bananas on the nose follow through to a fresh and fleshy, long and wonderfully balanced finish on the palate. This wine has seen some oak ageing, but this has been incredibly well managed here so it most definitely not of the old style white riojas that were massively over-oaked and extracted.

Don Placero Rioja Blanco - Pale yellow in colour, the wine is dry and fresh on the palate with aromas of peaches, apples, citrus, tropical fruits and a little banana. The finish is fresh and fruity with hints of melon. A zingy and refreshing wine.

Azabache Rioja Reserva - Rioja Reserva is made only in the best vintages, Azabache Reserva exhibits a soft and well rounded palate but with powerful, smooth tannins for impressive structure. Intense plummy fruits on the nose with flavours of blackberries, mulberries, black cherries, vanilla and spice that linger on the finish. A good accompaniment to grilled or barbecued lamb, steak and cheeses.

Gran Cerdo Tempranillo - Not a traditional Rioja in style. Gran Cerdo Tempranillo is all about the purest expression of fruit with whole bunch fermentation, no filtration, no stabilisation and minimal sulphur. The wine has real character, all the juicy elements of Tempranillo, with no dirty oak to mask its charms. It has a natural way about it but with no funkiness.  They have chosen to completely declassify their wines, to allow them to work outside of any control or law from any DOC, so they can make the very best wine possible from their amazing vineyards.
