Don Placero Rioja Crianza - Made by the family owned Bodegas Navajas in the Rioja Alta. Don Placero Rioja Crianza is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha aged in American oak for 15 months. An enticing nose of fruit, oak and subtle spice. Smooth with strong fruits of the forest flavours and rich vanilla on the long, lingering finish.
Letargo Rioja Crianza - From a family that has been making wines in Rioja for seven generations, Letargo is a rich and fruit-driven example of wines from Rioja Baja. Aged for 12 months in a combination of new and used French and American oak 225 liter barrels and aged an additional 12 moths after bottling. Flavours of cherry and plum with baking spices and licorice at the back. A terrific wine for grilled and smoked foods, try it with a Texas style brisket.
Gavanza Rioja Reserva, Bodega Maetierra Dominum - A bright ruby red with a golden rim in the glass, On the nose, scents of plums and black cherry. On the palate, smooth and rich with smoky notes. Flavours of liquorice and sweet spices. The finish is elegant and lingering. Great food wine with grilled herbed lamb chops, Patatas a la Riojana (potato & chorizo stew) or braised Basque Chicken with chorizo & sherry vinegar.
Pirineos 3404 Tempranillo Cabernet Rosado - This delicious Rioja Rose is a blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. The colour is pale pink with a fragrant, fresh nose with aromas of violets, cherries, and roses. On the palate it's smooth with red fruits, good acidity and incredible freshness. Perfect with grilled fish. Try also with mussel linguine with cherry tomatoes and chilli, vegetable terrine or grilled tuna with a green salsa.
Bodega Classica, Pharos Rioja Blanco - Selected from old vines Viura vineyards located in the Sonsierra area of Rioja. This wine is a revelation! Delicious notes of ripe fruit, dates and bananas on the nose follow through to a fresh and fleshy, long and wonderfully balanced finish on the palate. This wine has seen some oak ageing, but this has been incredibly well managed here so it most definitely not of the old style white riojas that were massively over-oaked and extracted.
Don Placero Rioja Blanco - Pale yellow in colour, the wine is dry and fresh on the palate with aromas of peaches, apples, citrus, tropical fruits and a little banana. The finish is fresh and fruity with hints of melon. A zingy and refreshing wine.
