A dryland bush-vine vineyard from Bloemfontein Farm planted on iron ferricrete Koffieklip soil. The soil has excellent water holding capacity due to an underlying subsoil rich in clay and the grapes are cooled down at night by Atlantic breezes due to its proximity to the coast.
Grenache Noir with 20% whole bunches and 15% juice extraction (to decrease juice to skin ration), was wild fermented in open top stainless-steel tanks with gentle hand punch-downs. Followed by two-week extended skin contact, whereafter it was pressed and aged in four 500L older French oak barrels for 7 months prior to bottling.
