Pyramid Valley North Canterbury Sauvignon Plus

This is the first Sauvignon from Pyramid Valley and is from organic and conversion parcels from North Canterbury. It has been named Sauvignon Plus because there is a small amount (3-6% each) of Riesling and Pinot Gris in the wine. Two thirds of the wine was fermented in tank with the remaining third split between old oak barrels and skin contact from time in amphora. This is the only wine that is filtered in the range.

This wine reveals tropical aromas, reminiscent of summer fruits and touches of sherbet. The palate is vibrant and bursting with flavours of ripe melons and passion fruit. The powerful fruits combine with an attractive texture and balanced acidity.

North Canterbury is located on the South Island of New Zealand close to Christchurch city. The region has a cool, dry climate with lots of sun and a long growing season. The Southern Alps to the west ensure low rainfall and long, dry autumns along with a high diurnal range help to create concentrated and expressive wines – particularly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
