Pét-nat is an abbreviation for "pétillant naturel"—a French term that roughly translates to "naturally sparkling." Pét-nat are wines that is bottle during initial fermentation, and the sugars from the grapes provide the bubbles once the fermentation begins again. Often finished unfiltered, expect some sediment.
Pét-nat's are perfect with BBQ’s, drinks with friends, sipping in the sun or with Pizza!!
We have collated six of our favourites in our Tasting Case for you to try.
I am the Ninja! - a much sought after Pét-nat from Swartland's Testalonga, made with grapes from old vine Chenin Blanc
I wish I was a Ninja! - Colombard grapes, hand harvest from a tiny block this is like lemonade for grownups!
Astro Bunny - This intergalactic bunny is a refreshing, zingy mouthful of grapefruit, watermelon and ripe peaches, made from Italian varietals grown across SE Australia.
Jean Maupertuis, Pink Bulles Pet Nat - This natural rosé comes from a fairly unknown growing region in the centre of France, bordered by extinct volcanoes. The mineral-rich soil brings out lovely stony notes, complemented by subdued strawberry flavours and delicate florals. This is old vine gamay at its finest!
Frolic Lost in a Field - In a nutshell, Fruity (gooseberry fool, rhubarb, raspberry coulis and peaches) with zero sulphur English pét-nat made from heritage grape varieties from old vines.
Chateau Tour des Gendres, Sauvignon Chenin Blanc Pet Nat - Dangerously drinkable, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc naturally sparkling wine from Bergerac in the sunny South of France.
Please note: if a wine in this mixed case moves vintage and we go out of stock, this will be replaced with a similar wine of same or higher value.
