Don’t be fooled by the modest Langhe Rosso tag as this stunning Nebbiolo from Roagna is produced from fruit sourced from the legendary producer’s best estate vineyards in Pajé, Barbaresco, La Pira and Castiglione Falletto.

Although we’re talking £45 per bottle, I still think this is one of the best value wines around and am never disappointed, which can’t be said for all wines at (and above) this price point.

The Langhe Rosso is a blend of Roagna’s younger vines, still 20 to 25 years old, in both Barolo and Barbaresco. It displays a glorious perfume immediately with flavours of red cherry, cinnamon, orange peel and cloves. Silky as you like on the palate there’s soft tannins and excellent body. Will continue to drink beautifully for many years, but it is so good now you needn’t feel guilty about pulling the cork on this gem.
