Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay 2022

Kumeu River winery wins us over again with celebrated attention to detail in the vineyards and precision in the winery. Over time the estate has gained popularity and recognition for their outstanding Burgundy-style Chardonnays.

To say more, in 2014 London blind tasting organised by Farr Vintners, Hunting Hill Chardonnay triumphed over the Premier Cru and Village Burgundies in every flight.

The vineyards, originally planted in 1992, were replanted in 2000, performed even better than before. 2022 was another outstanding vintages, following amazing 2020 and 2021, giving rich, ripe and concentrated grapes.

100% barrel fermented with 25% of new oak, this Chardonnay is dense, complex and concentrated. Still a bit shy on the nose, it will only improve with time: expect rich palette and complex aromas, full of preserved lemon and ripe peach.

Food pairing suggestion: Roasted monkfish with parsley butter.
