Henriques & Henriques 50 year old Tinta Negra Madeira

A wonderful 50th birthday or Golden Wedding Anniversary present. This is the first ever 50 Year Old Tinta Negra and is absolutely stunning! This is the first time Tinta Negra has ever been seen this way and with ONLY 2,700 bottles produced for the entire world market.

2015 saw Tinta Negra promoted to the status of ‘recommended grape’ and thus is now allowed to be mentioned on labels. In addition, a new 50 Year Old category has been implemented; this is designed to bridge the gap between 15/20 Year Old Colheitas and much older single-year Madeiras, and offers drinkers the opportunity to buy some properly old cask-aged Madeiras at prices considerably below those of the older vintage bottlings.

The 50 year old Tinta Negra displays distinct tertiary characteristics due to the extended maturation in very old American Oak casks. The result is a wonderfully expressive wine with lovely balance, good acidity and excellent concentration - a brilliant and fascinating example of the Tinta Negra varietal. Deliciously sweet and beautifully balanced with a refreshing acidity, this Tinta Negra shows great concentration due to the amount of time it has spent in casks. Flavours of candied fruits, black monukka raisins, toffee and molasses.
