Domaine Confuron-Gindre is based in Vosne Romanée extends over six generations. The Confuron name is widely known in Burgundy with multiple family members producing wine. The common ancestor is Edouard Jayer and over the generations, the parcels were split among the family members. Today Edouard Confuron is leading the winegrowing and production focusing on creating individual wines to express the terroir of each parcel. The domaine holds 32 acres spread over the three villages of Vosne-Romanée, Nuits Saint Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin. Located above Clos de Réas, the origin of the word "Chaumes" comes from that this land was left fallow for a long time before being planted. Les Chaumes is one of the oldest plots of the estate, planted in 1919 and 1920 there are still vines that are 100 years old, although some die of old age vines get replaced by young plants. The plot is located just below the Malconsorts Premiers Crus, it has a shallow soil where the rock goes up to certain place of the parcel. Millerandage is common in the plot producing small concentrated berries. Edouard notes that there is a bench of hard rock in the middle of the plot, where it is hard to get the pickets in.
