The Italian Job!

Our 6 bottle mixed case explores the fantastic Country of Italy from the very North to the Southern Island of Sunny Sicily.  No mini's included, but some fantastic wines here!

Ferghettina Franciacorta Brut - High quality sparkling wine from Lombardy, Northern Italy.  An exuberant, confident and bright style - lively and very approachable with a citrus fruits - golden apple character.  24 months on the lees adds a toasty note.

Ca' d'Gal, Moscato d'Asti 'Lumine' -  Lumine captures sunny notes of elderflower cordial, mandarin oranges and rose petals, illuminated by a lovely silver-gold effervescence on the tongue.  Flavours of white peaches and pears melt on the tongue like cotton candy, perfectly light and balanced.  Just a touch of frizzante bubble cleanses the palate.  Drink joyously as an aperitif, as a sorbet-like palate-cleanser, with strawberries, fruit pastries, torta di nocciole (hazelnut cake) and zabaione al moscato (zabaione with nutmeg).

Tiefenbrunner Pinot Grigio - From the Alto Adige in the Italian Dolomite Mountains this Pinot Grigio is light yellow to sandy-coloured in appearance, with an unobtrusive bouquet, and hints of pear and candied fruit.  The strong harmonious structure emphasizes its dry full bodied taste and round finish.

Marchesi di Gresy, Langhe Sauvignon Blanc - Made from Sauvignon grapes cultivated on Marchesi di Grésy's Monte Aribaldo (in the commune of Treiso) and Martinenga (Barbaresco) estates in Piemonte. Intense, ripe and vibrant aromas of citrus and stone fruit - with fine floral characters and notes of freshly-mown hay. Textural, harmonious palate with ripe fruit effortlessly balanced by crisp acidity and complex savoury characters.

Argiano, Non Confunditur IGT - From a historic and revered producer in Tuscany, Non Confunditur is a Latin term that means unique, unmistakable. A blend of French and Italian grapes: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot & 30% Sangiovese all vinified separately. Before blending, the wines are aged for 6 months in one year-old French barriques or two-year-old tonneaux. After blending, they are aged for a further period in stainless steel. Well structured with concentrated, red and black fruits with lovely integrated and smooth tannins.  Non Confunditur is a wine with a decisive, full-bodied character, smooth tannins and a persistent finish.

Cantine Nicosia, Fondo Filara Etna Rosso (Sicily) - This Sicilian wine blends Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio organically grown grapes from the Monte Gorna on high-elevation volcanic slopes of Mount Etna produce a rich and complex wine with a great minerality and appealing aromas of wild raspberry and dried petals, plus notes of leather and spice. The palate is complex and elegant with pure red berry and cherry fruit balanced by more savoury characters of black pepper.
