A Bajan liqueur, very tasty and a back bar essential for making some great cocktails. Taylor's Velvet Falernum was first created by John D Taylor of Bridgetown in 1890. The liqueur is made with sugar cane, lime, almond and cloves.

Born and bred on the island of Barbados, this slightly alcoholic sugar cane based liqueur is a staple of every Bajan's bar.

It's special taste comes from a refined infusion of lime laced with fine cane syrup and botanicals including almonds and cloves.

Signature Cocktail – Rum Swizzle

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2oz Doorly's 5 Year Old Rum
3/4oz Fresh Lime juice, plus lime shell
1/2oz John D. Taylor’s Velvet Falernum
3 dashes Angostura bitters

METHOD

1. Fill a mixing glass with crushed ice, and add all ingredients.
2. Swizzle with a swizzle stick or stir rapidly with a long-handled spoon.
3. Add spent lime shell to a highball and pour the contents of mixing glass over it.
