Gruner Veltliner Weinzierlberg 2020 Stadt Krems

This stunning white wine offers ripe aromas of brown spice-accented peaches and plums as well as Veltliner-typical snap peas.  The palate is sappy and fruit-filled, with plenty of crisp vegetable, juicy pit fruit and red raspberry character.  The finish is long and refreshing, with subtle minerality.  This Gruner Veltliner is an ideal partner for foie gras dishes and also partners well with Asian food.

Fritz Miesbauer is the inspiration behind this very fine company. As the name suggests, the company and its 35 hectares of vines belong to the city of Krems. It is located right in the town, close by the old city walls. This city winery traces its origins back to 1452. But back in 2003, when Fritz arrived they needed investment and dynamic leadership, and Fritz has brought both. This is now a thoroughly modern operation, and the city leaves Fritz a free hand in all his initiatives. The cellar has been developed, expanded and totally modernised, the vineyards have been renovated and replanted and the range of wines rationalised.
