SC Dogs White Rum 'The Spirit of John Nance'

It’s a hundred nautical miles from the Isles of Scilly to the coast of France, across the unforgiving Atlantic swell. Their Great Great Grandfather John Nance used to row there and back in the family pilot gig to bring cargoes of contraband rum and brandy back to the Isles of Scilly.

Today, at the first and only distillery on St. Martins, they’ve distilled that indomitable spirit into SC Dogs White Rum. Handcrafted in small batches and bottled on our farm, SC Dogs White Rum is a delicately balanced, silky smooth premium rum with a warm, rounded finish and a tang of the sea.

Each bottle is dedicated to the history of one of our own sea dogs.

Here’s to John Nance (1797-1881) - farmer, rum smuggler and SC Dog.

Ingredients

50ml SC Dogs White Rum

4 wedges of fresh lime

1 tsp brown sugar

Handful of fresh mint leaves - torn in half

A splash of tonic water 

Method

Place the lime, brown sugar

Tear mint leaves into a glass. 

Muddle to get all the juice from the limes & mint.

Fill the glass with crushed ice. 

Pour on the rum, add a splash of tonic water.
