Kaikyo Distillery, Hatozaki 12 year old Umeshu Cask Limited Edition Malt Whisky

We're pleased to announce the release of Hatozaki Small Batch 12YO Umeshu Cask Finish, adding to the Hatozaki portfolio of elegant and smooth Whiskies from the Kaikyo Ditillery in Hyogo, Japan.

A 12-year-old malt whisky from Hatozaki, this interesting Japanese bottling was initially matured in American oak casks, before being finished for six months in barrels that previously held Umeshu liqueur, arguably the most iconic fruit liqueur made in the country using a native variety of small plums called ume.

Made from a blend of premium single malts, each aged for a minimum of 12 years in American Oak casks before being married and then further finished in bespoke barrels that previously held superior Umeshu liqueur for an additional 6 months.

The result, a perfectly balanced whisky providing subtle accents of sweet Japanese plum. No added colour and non-chill filtered, Hatozaki 12YO Umeshu finish is designed to be enjoyed neat or on the rocks to appreciate the intense plum aromas from the Umeshu cask ageing, or in a highball for a light and refreshing serve.
