Another gem from winemaker extraordinaire Julien Zernott, of Henri Pelle estate in Menetou Salon, Central Loire. This is a blend of 8 vineyard parcels which are all vinified separately and then carefully blended to create a classic style that is released ready to drink! Quite aromatic on the nose with a rich and powerful palate, quite full bodied for a Sauvignon Blanc, down to part of the blend being aged in wooden vats and casks, and makes a great alternative to Sancerre."
Menetou-Salon used to be the poor relation of the neighbouring vineyards of Sancerre, it is now loads better and still cheaper! It is a seriously good food wine and will work with everything from crudite and dips, through to fish and even after dinner cheeses.
