Domaine de L'Iris, Moulin a Vent 'Coup de Foudre' 2020

Ruby red in colour with aromas of ripe cherry, wild strawberry, plum, blackcurrant, and clove. Delicate and juicy red fruit flavours on the palate. Medium bodied with a finely balanced texture and prominent tannins. This is a very fine Beaujolais indeed!

Thierry Janin’s estate is adjacent to Le Chateau de Moulin a Vent. He owns just one hectare himself, and rents a further six of the prime Rochelle and Rochegres sub zones whose sandstone soils are rich in ‘granit’ and manganese.

His Coup de Foudere is from his own plot and is made from fruit from 50 year old vines. Grapes are whole bunch fermented in old oak foudres and only lightly fined prior to bottling.

This is a silky, seductive, juicy cru Beaujolais with supple tannins supporting cherry, strawberry and plum notes.
