We have been massive fans of this wine for many years and it has recently hit the big time by becoming Jancis Robinson's Wine of the Week! Just add sunshine and maybe some seafood tapas for that perfect afternoon or evening with friends.
If you are looking for the best Spanish txakolina, you should visit Getaria and have a taste of this drink prepared by the Ameztoi family for over seven generations now. Started by a sailor many centuries ago, this winery is known to follow ancient winemaking methods even today to create some of the best and authentic wines. Located in the Basque County, the Ameztoi vineyards enjoy the cool coastal climate, as they are located nearby the San Sebastian Coast.
The white of this is fabulous and this is delicious too. Pink and slightly frothy, it's really pure and clean with delicate berry fruits alongside classic citrus and saline notes. It's just simply delicious, fresh and bracing, light in alcohol and ridiculously drinkable. A great pick me up as it's so fresh and bright. It just has such amazing drinkability and instant feel good appeal! Great summer drinking, so moreish and refreshing. Classic old school label too!
Ever since it was created, the Ameztoi Winery aimed at bringing out the best from the two native varietals – Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Beltza. The family guarantees its customers of high-quality and authentic wines from these varietals. Currently, these grapes are grown on 20 hectares of vineyards located strategically. The natural extravaganza around Basque County, coupled with the climatic conditions here, helps the family to grow full-flavoured indigenous varietals.
The grapes are harvested by hand to ensure that only the best are sent to the winery for further processing. The experts here know exactly when to harvest the grapes to get the maximum balance and intensity in the final txakolina that the brand is famous for. The steep slopes and the sandy soils lend the grapes a natural fruity character. While stainless steel vats are used for fermentation, residual carbon is used at the time of bottling to give authentic spritz to these wines.

Summer fun in a bottle
Not sweet but fruity. Fresh and light. A great wine for summer evenings even when it’s raining : )
