Celebrating English Wine Week: Cornwall’s most exciting producers!
Posted by EWWines on 17th Jun 2026
English Wine Week is the perfect moment to shine a light on Cornwall — one of the UK’s most dynamic and picturesque wine regions. With its maritime climate, rolling countryside, and growing reputation for quality-driven winemaking, Cornwall is home to a small but exceptional group of producers crafting world-class sparkling and still wines.
Here, we focus on three of our favourites — each with a distinct identity, but all united by a commitment to quality, character, and place.
Camel Valley
Few names are as synonymous with English wine as Camel Valley. Founded in 1989 by former RAF pilot Bob Lindo and his wife Annie, the estate is now led by their son Sam, Head Winemaker, continuing a family legacy rooted in precision and passion.
Set on the sun-drenched slopes above the Camel River, the vineyard began with just 8,000 vines. Today, it stands with a long list of awards and international recognition — and remains the only English winery to hold a Royal Warrant.
Camel Valley Pinot Noir Rosé Brut NV – £37
Consistently one of the estate’s most expressive wines, this sparkling rosé delivers immediate charm. Elegant yet generous, it offers a compelling alternative to rosé Champagne, at a fraction of the price. Bright red berry fruit, fine bubbles, and a clean,
lifted finish make this a benchmark example of English sparkling rosé.

Trevibban Mill
Set just outside Padstow only 2 miles from the sea, Trevibban Mill is one of Cornwall’s most forward-thinking estates. Founded in 2008 by Engin and Liz Mumcuoglu on a working arable farm, the project was born from a clear ambition: to craft small-batch, high-quality wines and ciders that reflect both land and climate.
Sustainability is central to the estate’s philosophy. Herbicides are avoided, biodiversity is encouraged through natural ground cover, and much of the estate is certified by the Soil Association. The result is a site that prioritises ecological balance as much as winemaking precision.
Trevibban Mill Blanc de Blancs NV – £34
Made entirely from Chardonnay, this traditional method sparkling wine is a standout in the range. Showing a balance of freshness and gentle lees aging. Aromas of orchard fruit, blossom, and subtle vanilla lead into a refined palate defined by crisp acidity and a creamy, biscuity finish. A poised and confident expression of English Blanc de Blancs.

Knightor
Knightor operates across two coastal vineyard sites — Portscatho on the Roseland Peninsula and Seaton near Looe — both shaped by Cornwall’s cool maritime influence.
The winemaking approach is deliberately restrained. Minimal intervention, low sulphur usage, and careful oak handling allow the fruit and site to speak clearly. The result is a portfolio of lighter, fresher wines with natural vibrancy and lift.
Beyond still and sparkling wines, Knightor has also developed a highly regarded vermouth range, crafted from estate fruit and infused with botanicals to create aromatic, layered expressions.
Knightor 2014 Vintage Cuvée - £38.50
The 2014 vintage remains a reference point for English sparkling wine, widely regarded as a breakthrough year that confirmed the country’s ability to produce serious, age-worthy traditional method wines. The 2014 vintage at Knightor is regarded as one of the estate’s most important base years for its traditional method sparkling wines. Often used as the foundation for later-released prestige cuvées, it reflects a year of exceptional balance and structure in the Cornish vineyard.
Long, clean, and slightly nutty, with citrus oil, toasted bread, and mineral freshness lingering on the palate. A serious, mature English sparkling wine in a more savoury, Champagne-influenced style. It leans more towards complexity and texture than fruitiness, showing the benefits of extended bottle ageing. Ideal for those who prefer nutty, biscuity sparkling wines over crisp primary styles.
