Palacios Remondo is a family-owned winery based in Alfaro, in Rioja Oriental, the warmest and most easterly part of the Rioja appellation. Plácet de Valtomelloso is a limited-production, estate-grown organic white wine made from the indigenous Spanish grape variety, Viura. Palacios Remondo produces the only white wine of the three properties, Plácet de Valtomelloso, which is elegant and lightly oaked, fermented and aged in large old foudres.
Plácet, meaning "consent", is beautiful straw gold in colour, with enticing aromas of orange blossoms, white pears, golden apples and freshly-baked brioche. Aged in large oak foudres, this is full-bodied with perfectly-balanced acidity and contains succulent flavours of white peaches, creamed honey and soft minerality, along with subtle hints of chamomile and fennel with a gentle cloak of vanilla and toast. Plácet is an outstanding wine that Alvaro Palacios feels has 'wonderful depth and purity,’ and is truly enjoyable when served alone or with any kind of food.
