As great Rosé champagne must be made from very ripe grapes – sometimes difficult to obtain in the Champagne climate, Louis Roederer has chosen to invest in one of the earliest Champagne crus, Cumières. The steeply-sloping, shallow clay and limestone soils face south and benefit from additional light reflected from the river Marne, enabling great phenolic maturity.

66% Pinot Noir and 34% Chardonnay. This undergoes cold skin-contact maceration, with the grapes left in contact with the skins for 5-8 days. The wine is then aged in the cellar for 4 years, followed by 6 months after disgorging, with the dosage fine-tuned for each vintage.

Delicate bubbles and an intense, deep bouquet, which is a succession of tart wild bilberry and raspberry, pink macaroon, pithy citrus and pink grapefruit. On the palate this is a combination of ripe fruit and precise, fresh flavours. The jam-like fruity, floral flavours of the Pinot Noir blend in perfectly with minerality and freshness from the Chardonnay.
