Medium crimson purple. Very attractive on the nose, roses and strawberries, with elegance. Not the most concentrated but this is a graceful style, with a very good heart to the wine, and the barrel barely influencing the finish. Good acidity, an additional zest at the finish and the fruit carries on through – Jasper Morris.
Marsannay is the northernmost village and the only appellation in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy, France, producing red and white wines. It is renowned for its red wines however. Farming here combines organic and biodynamic principles (particularly with regard for lunar phases for vineyard work and cellar operations) but the Domaine is certified for neither, following what they know works rather than adopting new trends. Champs Saint-Etienne is a small 0.82 ha monopole within the Domaines 15 ha of vineyards split between Gevrey Chambertin and Marsannay. Sadly it does not say Monopole on the label but Pierre-Jean Roty owns the entire vineyard. They used to give all the wine from this plot to the church for Vino Sacro to pay for their sins..! but luckily for us they have stopped doing this now and its for sale commercially.
