The "3 En Rama" range rom Lustau offers 3 wines, one each from the three cities in the Sherry Triangle, blended into a final wine. Like all En Rama sherries this fino is drawn directly from the cask without any additional treatment or clarification to give you the experience of what it would be like to drink this as if walking through the Soleros themselves.
Manzanilla en Rama, from Sanlúcar de Barrameda is matured in a small bodega close to the “La Calzada” beach, near the Guadalquivir river. Made with 100% Palomino Fino grapes. It has a more intense colour than usual manzanillas with a very brilliant gold. There is loads going on on the nose, intensely aromatic, flowery, with notes of roasted nuts, pastries and a fresh salinity reminiscent of the sea. On the palate it boasts freshness and minerality, denoting the marine origin of the soil where the vine grows. Creamy milky notes and a slightly bitter but very pleasant finish.
Fino en Rama, from Jerez de la Frontera is a stronger sherry wine, and again made with 100% palomino wines from Jerez. It comes from the solera of Fino Jarana, housed in the Bodega Los Arcos. It has an old golden yellow apperance with bright reflections in colour, its nose is pure flower yeast. Very pungent, with characteristic notes of nuts, almonds bitter and some citrus notes. On The palate it is dry, a little creamy, with persistence. Final lingering bitter notes.
Finally, Fino en Rama from El Puerto de Santa María is a very structured Fino sherry, with strong presence in the final blend; matured in the Bodega “El Drago” at the Bodegas Caballero complex. Pale gold and shiny, with intense aromas of yeast, bread dough. Notes of nuts, old wood and a fresh salty touch. It is intense on the palate, with great structure, with a dry character and again becomes some sense of minerality. Good intensity, floral and slightly bitter finish.
The final wine is quite fresh on the nose, with aromas of pears and quinces and almonds. Toasted bread. Some herbal notes like lovage and rosemary.
The flavour is that of Nuts and fruit, with a nice hint of wood smoke. Lacking some of the lemon tang of a Jerez Fino. Plenty of mineral notes with an elegant finish.
