An open and expressive nose of cherry, raspberry and plum with the old vines adding an extra layer of depth and complexity to the fruit. Rich and ripe in the mouth with a long, intensely fruity finish.
Reds from Chambolle-Musigny are known for their aromatic purity and elegance; the limestone rich soil makes the wine silky, with finesse rather than density. The grapes are from very old vines - planted in 1934 - which produce fewer grapes, but this leads to more concentrated & intense wines. Picked by hand, only the very best fruit is used, then matured for 16 months in French oak barrels. Michel leaves the wine unfiltered so as to not strip any character away from the wine.
Michel Digioia took over the vineyards from his mother-in-law in 1999. It was his wife's grandparents who established the domaine in Chambolle-Musigny in the 1930s, and today it remains a tiny, family run enterprise with only 4 hectares of vines - producing a portfolio of just 5 wines. Since Michel took over he has been turning heads in the wine world, producing delicate and elegant wines that far outperform their price tag.
