Piedmonte might be known for its Barolo and Barbaresco, but Freisa (native to Piedmonte and rarely found elsewhere) is a very different beast. It can be made in a range of styles but here it is Beaujolais-like, but with some additional acidity, typically of so many Italian wines. Lots of wild strawberries, blackcurrants and a slight nuttiness. For those of you who loved the La Cattura from Poggio Al Cassone, this has to be the closest replacement for it that we could find - try a bottle and you will not be disappointed!
